"Pupils develop highly positive attitudes to learning because relationships with staff are strong. Adults encourage pupils to ‘have a go’ and reinforce the message that they should work without fear of failure. Consequently, pupils willingly try new things, confident that their teachers and learning support assistants will help them if they go wrong or get stuck."

Catholic Life and Mission

Living Our Faith Every Day

At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, our mission “In the Light of Jesus, we Learn to Shine” is at the heart of everything we do. It shapes our curriculum, guides our decisions, and inspires the way we live, learn, and grow together as a community of faith.

We are proud to be a school where Catholic values are not only taught but lived out daily through prayer, service, and love for one another.

Faith in Action

We provide rich opportunities for children to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith and to put it into practice in meaningful ways. These include:

  • Dedicated prayer spaces throughout the school
  • Faith Ambassadors who lead and support collective worship
  • Pupil-led liturgies and class-based worship
  • Advent and Lenten services for pupils and families
  • Teaching of Catholic virtues through our weekly Monday Moments
  • Celebration of Mass and liturgical events with local clergy
  • Visits from parish priests to support RE learning and spiritual development
Serving Others

Inspired by the teachings of Jesus, we encourage our children to show compassion and generosity to those in need—both locally and globally. Our pupils regularly take part in charitable initiatives such as:

  • Supporting CAFOD, Caritas, and Radio Maria
  • Volunteering at the Young @ Heart Café
  • Organising collections and fundraising for those less fortunate

These experiences help our children grow into thoughtful, responsible citizens who understand the importance of service and social justice.

A Welcoming Catholic Community

St Joseph’s is a school where everyone is welcomed, valued, and respected. Our Catholic identity is visible throughout the school environment and reflected in the way we care for one another. We are a highly inclusive community, rooted in the Word of God and committed to nurturing the spiritual, moral, and emotional wellbeing of every child.

Leadership and Governance

Our school leaders and governors are deeply committed to the Catholic life and mission of the school. They ensure that Christ remains at the centre of all we do and that our values are reflected in every aspect of school life.
